Candle-lit dinners have become the norm in Bengaluru for the past few weeks. Not necessarily because there’s romance in the air but of the numerous powercuts across the city.
Bengaluru was the first city in India to get hydro-electric power in 1905. And this is a city that also gets thermal power.
So why are we having power cuts?
Because Bengaluru has grown multi-fold since 1905. Just our little city needs 2500 MW of electricity per day, while the rest of the state needs about 3,600 MW.
